Who It Is For
Who Commercial EV Charging Is For
Businesses and property owners hire us, a licensed electrician in Durham, NC, to install their EV chargers. The right setup depends on who parks with you and for how long.
Workplaces: Charging for Staff
Staff park for most of the day. A charger at work means they can drive an EV even if they cannot charge at home.
Usual fit Level 2
Shops and Restaurants: Charging for Customers
Drivers look for a place to charge while they shop or eat. A charger can bring them to your door.
Usual fit DC fast or Level 2
Apartments and Rental Properties
Renters with EVs need somewhere to charge overnight. Chargers in the lot make your units easier to rent.
Usual fit Level 2
Small Business Fleets
Vans and service trucks come back at night. Chargers at your shop mean every vehicle starts the day full.
Usual fit Level 2 or DC fast
Planning
How Many Chargers Should Your Business Start With?
Match Chargers to Parking Time
A car parked all day needs far less charging speed than a car parked for half an hour. Start with how long people stay, then pick the number and kind of chargers. Many businesses start with one or two and add more later. We also install larger groups of chargers.
Run Conduit Now for Chargers Later
Trenching a parking lot twice costs more than doing it once. When we dig for the first chargers, we can lay extra conduit for future spaces. Adding a charger later then takes far less work. It is the same planning we use for all our commercial wiring jobs.
Parking time decides the charger
Customers shopping or eating
30 minutes to 2 hours
Usual fit
DC fast for a quick top-up, or Level 2 for longer visits
Staff at work
Most of the day
Usual fit
Level 2. One charger can serve two cars if staff move them at lunch
Tenants and residents
Overnight
Usual fit
Level 2, with load management when many cars charge at once
Fleet vans and trucks
Overnight at your shop
Usual fit
Level 2 for most. DC fast if vehicles go back out the same day
Charger Types
Level 2 or DC Fast Charging for Your Business
We install both. Most small businesses do well with Level 2. DC fast makes sense when drivers only stay a short time and need a lot of range. We help you choose before you buy anything. Want one at your house too? See our home EV charger installation page.

Level 2 Chargers
- Runs on 240 volts
- Adds range over a few hours
- Fits most panels, often with load management
- Lower cost per charger
Best for staff, tenants and fleets that park for hours.
DC Fast Chargers
- Charges much faster
- Adds a lot of range in under an hour
- Needs far more power, often a larger service
- Higher cost per charger
Best for quick customer stops and fleets on tight schedules.
Power Check
Can Your Building Power EV Chargers?
This is the question that sets the price. We answer it with numbers, not a guess, before you buy any chargers.
A Load Calculation Comes First
We add up what your building already uses at its busiest time. What is left over tells us how many chargers you can add as things stand.
Load Management Instead of a Bigger Service
A load management system shares the available power between chargers and slows them when the building is busy. It often lets you add more chargers without a new panel or service.
When a Panel Upgrade Makes Sense
If there is not enough power even with load management, or you plan DC fast chargers, the panel or service may need to grow.
Our commercial panel upgrade work covers that part.

Site Layout
Parking Spaces, Access and Signs
Where the chargers go affects the cost, the wiring run and how easy they are to use. Mark the spaces "EV charging only" so they stay free for drivers who need them.
Wall Mount or Pedestal
If the spaces sit next to your building, a wall mount keeps the job simple. For spaces out in the lot, we set pedestal chargers and trench the wiring to them.
Accessible Charging Spaces
Accessibility rules can apply to new charging spaces. We plan where chargers go so the reach, the cord and the space around them work for every driver.
Who Can Charge and Who Pays
We install chargers that work without an app or a monthly network fee. Drivers plug in and charge. This suits staff, tenants and fleets. If you want drivers to pay through an app, you need a networked charger and plan, which we do not set up.
Incentives
EV Charging Incentives in 2026: What Is Still Available
Some websites still promise a tax credit that is gone. Here is where things stand.
The Federal Tax Credit Ended June 30, 2026
The federal credit for EV charging equipment (section 30C) only covers chargers placed in service by June 30, 2026. A charger installed after that date does not qualify. Check with your tax advisor about chargers you put in before then.
Duke Energy Programs for Businesses
Duke Energy has offered programs that help businesses with the cost of getting a site ready for chargers. Programs change, so we help you check what is open for your Durham property and fill in the paperwork. We do not promise an amount.
Why Choose Us
Why Businesses Pick Us for EV Charger Installation
Chargers are only as good as the power behind them. We start with your building, not a product list, and plan the job so it fits your lot and your hours.
- 15+Years of experience
- 24/7Emergency line for businesses
- NCLicensed in North Carolina
We Check Your Power First
A load calculation tells you how many chargers your building can run before you spend money on any.
Load Management Before a Bigger Service
Where it works, we add load management so chargers share the power you have. It can save you a panel upgrade.
Level 2 and DC Fast
We install both, so you get the charger that fits how long people park, not the one we happen to sell.
Wall Mounts, Pedestals and Trenching
Chargers on the building or out in the lot. We trench the wiring to pedestal chargers and plan conduit for later.
Permit and Inspection Handled
We pull the permit, set up the inspection and meet the inspector, so the job is signed off.
Work Around Your Hours
We can work before you open, after you close or on a weekend. Nights and weekends cost the same as a weekday.

Commercial EV Charger FAQs
Thinking about chargers for your lot? Call and tell us who parks there and for how long, and we will plan the next step.
Call (984) 271-2113Do we need a permit for commercial EV chargers?
Yes. New circuits for EV chargers need a permit and an inspection. We pull the permit, set up the inspection and meet the inspector.
How long does installation take?
A wall charger close to the panel is a fairly quick job. Chargers out in the lot take longer because of trenching. DC fast chargers or a service upgrade add more time. You get a timeline with your price.
Can our panel handle EV chargers?
We find out with a load calculation. If power is tight, load management can often share it between chargers, so you may not need a new panel.
Is the federal tax credit still available?
Not for new chargers. The federal credit (section 30C) only covers chargers placed in service by June 30, 2026. We can help you check Duke Energy programs for businesses instead.
Do you install DC fast chargers?
Yes. We install both Level 2 and DC fast chargers. DC fast chargers need much more power, so we check your building first and tell you what it will take.
Can you set up app payments for drivers?
No. We install chargers that work without an app or a monthly fee. If you want drivers to pay through an app, that needs a networked charger and plan from a charging network company.
