When you are new to an area, it can be an undertaking trying to set up a new circle of contacts that you know you’ll need. While finding a doctor or a dentist might be easy, finding a local electrician will require a little more research! Here at Brian Electric, LLC, we know there are many ways you can source out a local electrician, but these are a few of our personal favorites.
- Ask for referrals. If you don’t know anyone in the area, asking for referrals might seem impossible, but take heart– there are still referrals to be had! Instead of checking out online search engines, try asking people at the gym, your neighbors, or even calling up your local hardware store for some suggestions. After you have a few names of local electricians, ask them for some referrals from previous clients you could talk to.
- Interview before hiring. Before you get a job, you’re often interviewed and vetted out quite thoroughly before hiring– there’s no reason why you can’t ask a local electrician some interview questions to make sure it’s a good fit! Asking questions about their years in practice, where they started, if they are up to date on codes and legal requirements, and warranties can give you a better idea of who you would feel comfortable working with.
- Make sure everything is up to date. Electricians have licenses and continuing education they need to complete and have up to date. They also should keep you aware of the qualifications of who will be doing the actual work and if they know which permits to apply for.
